I'm glad you are here!
I'm a PhD candidate and academic staff member in Computing at Curtin University, Australia. My PhD is centred on developing novel methods with foundational models for robust empathy detection in text and video interactions. Such an objective empathy assessment is well-positioned to ensure equitable empathy training across healthcare, education, and social support. One of my PhD publications has recently been awarded as the "Best Publication" in the EECMS HDR Forum at Curtin.
In addition to my academic research, I worked on multiple industry projects. For example, my work on physics-informed super-resolution, which I did at CSIRO, is published in the IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence (TPAMI). I have mentored and (co-)supervised 30+ undergraduate and postgraduate machine learning research projects (40+ students) across various application areas. My overarching research interests include advancing deep learning algorithms in both natural language processing and computer vision.
In 2024, I received the "Quality Journal Publication Award" from BRAC University. I received a few grants, including a research grant in 2024-2025 from BRAC University and four compute grants under the "Pawsey Partner Merit Allocation" in 2026, 2025, and 2024, from the Pawsey Supercomputing Research Centre. I championed the "Seeds for the Future 2018" program, sponsored by Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd.
In addition to research, I'm keen on teaching. I have lectured on several undergraduate and postgraduate units, supervised several research students, and designed curricula across universities in Australia and Bangladesh since 2019. At my current role in Curtin, I'm the Unit Coordinator and Lecturer for ICTE3002 (Human Computer Interface), ICTE5001 (Advanced Human Computer Interface), and ISEC6000 (Secure DevOps). Previously, I lectured full-time at BRAC University and Bangladesh Army International University of Science & Technology.

- Received compute grant as CI (100% FTE) under 2026 Pawsey Partner Merit Allocation: 100 kSU CPU and 3,500 kSU GPU for one year on my PhD project "Multi-modal Language Model for Measuring Human Empathy".
- Two of our papers from my collaboration with KUET, Bangladesh have been accepted in two IEEE conferences.
November 2025
- Started working on a new short-term industry project with The Kids Research Institute, as part of Pawsey Supercomputing Centre Research Internship 2026. Project title: "Prediction of Transdiagnostic Markers of Mental Health via Passively Sensed Data", supervised by Prof Kathryn Modecki and Assoc Prof Kristin Gainey.
- Presented the last milestone (Milestone 3) of my PhD program at Curtin.
- Presented our work on a physics-informed diffusion model for super-resolution and surrogate modelling of time-dependent partial differential equation at the EAGE Workshop on Enhancing Subsurface Practices using AI/ML.
